This small eastern Pennsylvania town, pronounced “eh-MAY-us,” located about 20 miles west of the Delaware River, was formed as a Moravian Church village in 1759. The Rodale family has called it home since 1930 when founder J.I. Rodale established the publishing company.

Emmaus and the surrounding Lehigh Valley offer great public schools, affordable and varied real estate options, and a real sense of community – all within a two-hour drive of New York City and Philadelphia. Rodale employees love the year-round sports and recreation options, including:

• Snow skiing just 15 minutes from our offices at Bear Creek Mountain Resort or 30 minutes away at Blue Mountain, plus more ski areas in the nearby Pocono Mountains.
• The Valley Preferred Cycling Center, the nation’s most active velodrome, which was built on land donated by the Rodale family and whose construction was pioneered by cycling fan and Rodale president Bob Rodale.
• Mountain biking trails on South Mountain. It’s just a short pedal up the road from Rodale’s main building to the trailhead.
• Canoeing, kayaking and rafting through the class II to IV water of the Lehigh River Gorge or on the tamer Delaware River between Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
• Fly fishing on the Little Lehigh River.

You’ll also find great colleges and universities like Pennsylvania State University, Lehigh University, Lafayette College, Muhlenberg College, and Kutztown University, plus cultural institutions like The Allentown Symphony Orchestra and Symphony Hall, The Bach Choir of Bethlehem, The Allentown Art Museum, The Zoellner Arts Center at Lehigh University, and The State Theater Center of the Arts.
