New York, NY, December 9, 2010—Rodale Inc. today announced that Matt Bean has been named AVP, Mobile, Social & Emerging Media. In this role, Bean will work closely with all Rodale departments and brands, including Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Prevention, Bicycling, Runner’s World, Organic Gardening, and Eat This, Not That!, to develop concepts, ideas, and products around mobile, gaming, video, and social media, ensuring all efforts align with Rodale’s corporate objectives. Bean will report to Ken Citron, Chief Operating Officer/CIO.
“Our efforts in these areas—mobile, social media, and emerging technologies—have rapidly accelerated and have matured into high growth business drivers at Rodale,” said Citron. “Over the last year, Matt has established himself as a leader in this space and I'm confident his talent will enhance our overall digital strategy, which is an important part of our DNA and our future.”
In 2009, Bean assumed the role of Brand Editor at Men’s Health and Women’s Health, where he launched more than 40 mobile applications across Rodale’s brands and oversaw the creation and launch of Rodale’s first-to-market iPad platform. In 2010, the American Society of Magazine Editors honored the Eat This, Not That! app with the award for Best Interactive Tool. Additionally, he oversaw the launch of Rodale’s first gaming endeavor, helping form a partnership with Ubisoft for the Microsoft Kinect title, YourShape: Fitness Evolved.
