Media Industry Veteran Will Bring Fresh Strategic Vision to Support the Brand’s Continued Growth
Emmaus, PA, November 7, 2012 – Rodale Inc. today announced that Kristen Zohn has been named Account Director, Organic Gardening, effective immediately. In this role, Zohn will oversee account management across the brand and focus on account development in the New York metropolitan market. She will report directly to Organic Gardening Publisher Jeff Tkach and will be based in the Emmaus, PA, headquarters.
Capping its 70th year in print, the Organic Gardening team continues to broaden the brand’s lifestyle content and scope, affording new opportunities for digital development and the diversification of strategic marketing solutions. Zohn’s wealth of experience across beauty, food & beverage, apparel, retail and media categories will bring fresh vision to the brand’s client services and create an open frontier for continued growth.
“Kristen is an expert when it comes to leveraging the assets that a magazine has to offer, and at connecting our partners with the right programs,” said Tkach. “Her ability to identify and tailor marketplace opportunities to align with client objectives will be essential as we expand our non-endemic portfolio moving into 2013.”
Zohn joins Rodale from GroupM (previously MEC) where she has been a Senior Partner/Associate Director of Print Communications since 2006. Overseeing all aspects of strategic print planning, negotiating and buying, Zohn led a diverse roster of accounts that included Macy’s, Bayer HealthCare LLC, NBCUniversal, Vanity Fair Corp., Colgate-Palmolive, E. & J. Gallo Winery, Discover Card and Bare Minerals. Prior to her tenure at GroupM, Zohn held media management positions with Johnson & Johnson’s Global Marketing Group and Mediaedge: CIA/Young & Rubicam.
Following an award-winning 2009 redesign that brought expanded food and lifestyle content to Organic Gardening’s pages and website, the brand has seen healthy growth in ad performance. 2012 ad paging has gained 12% and revenue has increased 44% (according to PIB) versus the same period in 2009. Digital advertising has catapulted 1490% in revenue for the same period.
A Pennsylvania native and graduate of Temple University, Zohn currently resides in New Jersey and plans to relocate to the Emmaus-area with her husband and son.
