New York, NY, July 27, 2010—Rodale Inc. today announced that it has signed an agreement with Pacific Magazines to launch a direct response book business in Australia. Pacific Magazines, home to Men’s Health Australia, Women’s Health Australia, and Prevention Australia and part of Australia’s largest television network, the Seven Network, will be the only seller of Australian editions of Rodale branded books available through direct mail, online and in magazine. Prevention’s Flat Belly Diet! is the first book in the pipeline, and will be followed by Men’s Health’s and Women’s Health’s Big Book of Exercises.
“We are very excited to once again extend our partnership with Pacific through the development of a direct book business,” said Michelle Meyercord, SVP, Rodale International. “The demand for smart, trustworthy health and wellness content in Australia has never been higher, and we have no doubt we will see our books flourish under Pacific’s watchful eye. This is a promising first step for us, and we look forward to developing our direct book business in other markets around the world.”
Nick Chan, CEO, Pacific Magazines, comments, “We look forward to further developing our winning partnership with Rodale via the next evolution from Australia’s leading portfolio of healthy lifestyle brands.”
Australian editions of Rodale magazines have seen much success with Pacific. Women’s Health Australia is now one of the top 20 most-read magazines in the country, while Men’s Health Australia increased its readership 12.9% year over year—the title’s third increase in as many years. Prevention Australia launched in October 2009, and paid circulation is ahead of projections.
