Prevention Appoints Peter Hemmel Creative Director

New York, NY – October 14, 2010 –Prevention Editor-in-Chief Diane Salvatore today announced the appointment of Peter Hemmel to Creative Director for Prevention magazine, effective immediately. Prevention is the #1 healthy lifestyle brand in the U.S., with a magazine audience of more than 10.2 million readers. Hemmel will report to Salvatore and be based in Prevention’s New York City office. Prevention is published by Rodale Inc..

For nine years, Hemmel worked as Art Director for Glamour magazine, where he was part of the team to receive the prestigious National Magazine Award for General Excellence (2005). Hemmel has also served as Creative Director for Life & Style magazine, and as Freelance Art Director for People magazine.

Salvatore said, “Peter is a top talent in the industry; I'm delighted to have him come on board to bring my plans for Prevention to visual life. He is an energetic and creative design strategist who understands and respects the great assets of Prevention as a brand."

Hemmel is also the recipient of two Folio Ozzie Awards and three Merit Awards from the Society of Publication Designers. He holds both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri, and resides in New York City.

Hemmel replaces Jill Armus who has left the company.
