New York, NY (April 22, 2010) - Rodale, Inc.'s Men's Health received the National Magazine Award, the preeminent award for magazine journalism, in the "General Excellence" category for magazines with one to two million circulation. It was announced at the American Society of Magazine Editors awards gala in New York City on April 22. Additionally, Men's Health received nominations in the categories for "Personal Service" and "Magazine of the Year."
"That Men's Health the magazine has been given this tremendous recognition is a testament to the talent of the entire editorial team and their ability to manage the growing needs of our industry," said Rodale Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Maria Rodale. The "General Excellence" award recognizes overall achievement including writing, reporting, editing, and design. The other magazines nominated in this category were The New Yorker, More, Field & Stream, and Teen Vogue.
Men's Health had a remarkably strong performance in 2009 - sold two million Men's Health books, averaged 85 million page views on menshealth.com each month, launched nearly 20 iPhone apps, grew newsletter subscriptions to three million and increased advertising market share by nine percent.
