Through partnerships with bicycle manufacturers, the BikeTown program has delivered more than 3,000 bikes to residents of 19 states who won essay contests asking why they deserved a free bike. In addition, BikeTown Africa has donated more than 1,500 bikes to healthcare workers in Botswana, Namibia, Senegal, Swaziland, and South Africa so they could reach people affected by AIDS in remote villages.
